Using the shoulder bolt concept, the bolts are not fully threaded to the top so there is less wear and tear on your deck holes (The bolt fits snugly and have less vibration, which keeps the nuts from loosening and makes the bolts and the board last longer.)

1.125" hardware is designed for skateboards and longboards, with standard trucks and 1/8" or slightly larger risers. 1.125" Hardware is honestly an odd size. It's like, is there really that big of a difference between 1" and 1.25"? I guess this is the size you get when you can't make up your mind.
