Why Flight Decks
Powell Peralta builds Flight decks differently from a standard 7-ply, using U.S. hard rock maple, high-strength fiberglass, and AirLam fused with epoxy resin. According to Powell:
- Thinner: as thin as your phone.
- Stronger: more than twice as strong in Powell's tail break tests.
- Longer lasting: the epoxy-infused, fiber-reinforced structure is extremely resistant to breaking and gives "everlasting pop" that doesn't fade as the deck wears.
- Higher ollies: greater rebound and snap.
Powell's team testing suggests Flight decks last several times longer than a 7-ply. They're made in the USA at Powell's factory in Ventura, CA, and warranted by SkateOne against delamination for their useful life.
