Description

The Axiom Plasma Hex midrange is Axiom's versatile, mesmerizingly straight midrange, molded in Plasma plastic. It's built for players of every power level who want one midrange for every shot shape, and it's at its best on straight midrange lines and controlled shots in the woods.

Plasma Plastic

Plasma is an advanced disc golf polymer with a metallic sheen on the core and color-shift tones in select colors. It's a semi-gummy, grippy, flexible blend that's also highly durable, so your Hex holds its flight for a long time. Choose Plasma if you want premium durability with a little more grip and flex than Neutron or Proton. The Hex is also available in Cosmic Neutron, Eclipse, Neutron and Neutron Soft.

What Is Project Lab Coat?

Project Lab Coat (PLC) is the visual refresh of the MVP Disc Sports and Axiom Discs lineups, MVP's commitment to making sure their discs are the best they can be today, not what made sense a decade ago. Most MVP and Axiom stock stamps were 10 to 15 years old, so PLC brings fresh designs built on MVP's multi-foil stamping. Axiom keeps its signature colorful GYRO rims, and black rims are joining the Axiom color mix.

Why it's a win: the flight and plastic don't change. PLC discs come from the same molds and plastic, made in the same Marlette, Michigan facility, so this Hex flies just like the pre-PLC "Classics," with a fresh, modern look.

The Mold

The Hex is a 21.4 cm midrange with a 13 mm rim. It is an exceptionally versatile midrange, able to perform a wide variety of shot shapes. At the highest arm speeds, it produces slightly understable lines from flat, but its fade of 1 keeps it from flipping over completely. For lower arm speeds, it has enough turn to make shaping lines a breeze, making it a great choice for control in the woods.

Stability

The Hex is stable. Stable discs fly straight for most of their flight and finish with a dependable fade. For right-hand backhand (RHBH) throwers, it flies straight with a reliable fade to the left at the end. Left-hand backhand (LHBH) throwers will see the mirror image, with the fade finishing to the right. Forehand flights flip that pattern: right-hand forehand (RHFH) follows the LHBH line and left-hand forehand (LHFH) follows the RHBH line. It suits players of every skill level who want a predictable flight.

Flight Numbers

Rating Value What it means
Speed 5 Midrange speed that rewards smooth form over raw power.
Glide 5 Lots of glide to help it stay in the air and add distance.
Turn -1 A touch of high-speed turn to the right (RHBH) for a little extra distance.
Fade 1 Very little fade, so it finishes nearly straight.

FAQ

Is the Axiom Hex good for beginners?

Yes. MVP says the Hex will find a place in anyone's bag as a versatile, reliably straight midrange.

Is the Axiom Hex overstable?

Not really. The Hex is stable, rated 5/5/-1/1, so it flies straight with a dependable fade rather than the hard hook of an overstable disc.

What's the difference between Plasma and Neutron plastic?

Plasma is semi-gummy and grippy with a metallic sheen. Neutron is firmer and opaque. Both are highly durable.

Does Project Lab Coat change how the Hex flies?

No. MVP says Project Lab Coat is solely a visual refresh. The Hex is made in the same mold, from the same plastic, in the same facility, so it flies exactly the same.

What disc is similar to the Axiom Hex?

The MVP Detour (5/5/-2/1) is a slightly more understable mid that MVP places between the Hex and the Uplink.

How far does the Axiom Hex fly?

With an average arm, expect roughly 275 feet. Distance depends heavily on your power and form, so stronger throwers will go farther and newer players shorter.
