MVP Discs Sports Project Lab Coat James Conrad Electron Soft Nomad Putter 2/4/0/1
Description
One of the fun challenges of designing the James Conrad Line was figuring out just what that concept meant to James and MVP. After sitting down with James and talking about his passions, it became clear that the concept of travel and exploration was going to be the bedrock of the James Conrad Line. With that in mind, James wanted to use his Line to showcase some of his favorite places and experiences on Earth. As luck would have it, months before he would go on to win the World Championships in Utah, Arches National Park was chosen as our Nomad concept —James Conrad definitely has some magic to him.
From there, we had to formulate how to blend the unique themes of the James Conrad Line with those of the MVP brand itself. Mixing science with nature, much like Axiom’s representation of art, was definitely something we were looking forward to, and Art Director Mike Inscho was more than up to the task. For the Electron Nomad specifically, Mike’s inspiration was to represent Arches with audio-like waveforms — creating a topographical waveform of a trailhead that is close to James’ heart. With just enough nods to MVP themes to enhance, not overwhelm, the core concepts of the James Conrad Line, the Nomad truly represents the partnership between James and MVP. The results speak for themselves, and we can’t wait to see what Mike and James have in store for us next.
The MVP Electron Soft Nomad putter is James Conrad's signature neutral-stable putter, molded in Electron Soft plastic. It's built for players who want a comfortable, small-bead putter designed by a world champion, and it's at its best on confident putts and controlled approaches.
Electron Soft Plastic
Electron Soft is the most flexible version of MVP's grippy, matte Electron baseline plastic. It has the same tactile, all-weather grip that holds up in rain, cold, and morning dew, with a softer feel in the hand. Like all Electron, it's designed to wear slowly, gaining a little glide and flying straighter as it breaks in. The GYRO overmold keeps your Nomad on line, and premium blends like Neutron hold their out-of-the-box flight longer if you want less wear. The Nomad is also available in Electron and Electron Firm.
What Is Project Lab Coat?
Project Lab Coat (PLC) is MVP's lineup refresh, making sure their discs are the best they can be today, not what made sense a decade ago. Many stock stamps were 10 to 15 years old, so PLC brings new designs built on MVP's multi-foil stamping. James Conrad Line stamps were already modern and sleek, so they stay the same. Starting in 2026, every MVP plastic line moves to a white GYRO rim.
Why it's a win: the flight and plastic don't change. PLC discs come from the same molds and plastic, made in the same Marlette, Michigan facility, so this Nomad flies just like the pre-PLC "Classics," with a fresh look and a white rim that's easier to spot on the course.
The Mold
The Nomad is a 21.2 cm putt and approach disc with a 9 mm rim. The Nomad debuted the James Conrad Line and has everything Conrad wants in a putter, from the depth and shoulder height down to the size of its small bead. MVP rates it as a neutral-stable putter, with a little glide and a gentle fade.
Stability
The Nomad is neutral to stable. Neutral discs fly straight and true with very little turn or fade. For right-hand backhand (RHBH) throwers, it flies straight with only a slight drift left as it slows down. Left-hand backhand (LHBH) throwers will see the mirror image, with a gentle drift right at the finish. Forehand flights flip that pattern: right-hand forehand (RHFH) follows the LHBH line and left-hand forehand (LHFH) follows the RHBH line. It suits players of every skill level who want a predictable flight.
Flight Numbers
| Rating | Value | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | 2 | Slow putter speed, easy to control without much power. |
| Glide | 4 | Moderate glide that carries without sailing past the target. |
| Turn | 0 | No high-speed turn, so it holds its line early in flight. |
| Fade | 1.5 | A moderate, dependable fade at the end of the flight. |
