Yes you can get a cheaper board but you get what you pay for. I have bought the cheaper $40 combo board and it's perfect for starting out as you might damage your board but if you want to move up I would definitely get this combo. You feel the difference and gives you the confidence you need to keep yourself securely on the board. When I think I'm going to wipeout, I am able to stay on the board.
